My Recent Personal Success Story
My Third Year English Scrapbook:
STELLAR
Kenneth Bernejay Porio
My Third Year English Scrapbook was my recent personal success that I done during the past school year. This was the the most inspiring and the most creative work I created so far. This work contained stories and poems that I created. I also included an autobiography of myself that recorded the important events that happened in my life.
It all started on June 2005, when I was in my third year in my High School life. Our English teacher at that time, Teacher Ruth Pepito-Orilla, announced to our class to make a personal scrapbook for the whole year. I started to think of creative ideas to make poems – from couplets, to sonnets to free verse poems.
But things did not go out to what it was supposed to be. As time ran out, I became busier and I lost my concentration to make the scrapbook. I was busy with other projects and with the activities that went round-the-clock. This was why I couldn’t concentrate.
Then came January 2006. This was the time that we must check our works. Our English teacher checked my prototype. Unfortunately, many of the parts were still missing. Afterwards, during the Distribution of Cards, my teacher advised my father to help me finish the project.
My father was really disappointed on what I did. It was because I kept my works in our computer. Because of that, my father bought me a printer to print my works to be bookbinded. I did not have enough sleep in making the final drafts, but I did not hesitate to accomplish it.
Then came February. This was the time when I passed my scrapbook. Well, I entitled my work “Stellar” because I was inspired by a Bible verse, Philippians 4:13. The scrapbook was short but all were interesting, said Teacher Ruth.
On a March day, she told us to make messages on the back pages of the other scrapbooks of fellow classmates. Teachers can sign, too. As for my scrapbook, I received countless messages from my fellow classmates and teachers. These messages made me inspired because they were very beautiful.
Because of this work I made, I achieved the most successful thing I longed for in my whole life – to be expressive to show the world what I am. I achieved the greatest respect that I truly deserve.
